Following is a list of Frequently Asked Questions about employment opportunities, the current recruitment process and conditions at Safety & Rescue Australia.

How do I apply for a position?

You must apply in writing. Please ensure you send an up-to-date resume (no more than five pages) in Word or PDF format to Human Resources. To view all career opportunities with Safety & Rescue Australia, click here.

What happens to my resume and details if SRA don't have an immediate vacancy?

If we anticipate the need for skills in your area, we will retain your details for three months.

What does the recruitment process involve?

Our recruitment process will involve a formal interview and may include the delivery of a short presentation on a subject of your choice.

For some positions we will also require:

  • Abilities and temperament assessments (arranged and paid for by SRA)
  • Pre-employment medicals (arranged and paid for by SRA)
  • Security clearances (candidates to arrange)
What should I include in my resume?

Your resume should be no more than five pages in length and must include:

  • Contact details
  • Work history including current role, dates of employment and primary responsibilities
  • Education and Qualifications
  • Details of any significant certificates, licences that you hold
Will you contact my referees?

It is SRA' procedure to contact referees of candidates who are being considered for appointment. By providing us with the names and contact numbers of your referees we assume you consent to us contacting them. In all cases your privacy will respected if you do not want your current employer contacted. However, you must advise us of this.

How would my performance be appraised?

SRA uses a formal Performance Management System, which ensures employees have an annual Performance Review. You will be rated against specific position requirements.

Do SRA support further education and training?

SRA is committed to developing and maintaining a skilled and experienced workforce. To achieve this, we support training and development activities which align with our business needs.

If unsuccessful can I reapply?

You can reapply for any positions which you have previously been considered unsuccessful for. Please ensure you are applying for positions which align with your skills and experience.

Do I have to wait for an advertisement to apply?

No, you can submit a general application at any stage. If your skills and experience are of interest to us we will hold your application on file for a period of three months. Please ensure you check our website frequently for positions which may interest you.
